Welcome to the dazzling and wonderful world of poker terminology. Just like doctors use their strict terminology, investment bankers generally use fiscal terms, poker players have their characteristic terminology which has been incessantly growing with the increasing population of poker players across the world.

This article would help you to acquaint and fine tune yourself to the current lingo used by poker players. Most of the poker players are aware of phrases like flop, steamed, all in and so on.

Third Street means the third card dealt on the poker table I all the stud games. It is the first card which is dealt to the players in the position of face up.

Sixth Street clearly means the sixth card on the poker table which is dealt to all the poker players.

Showdown mans that after all the betting rounds are complete the players who are active in the game need to compare their hands in order to know the winner.

Pocket is a common term used by players and it means to the position of cards which are in a face down manner.

Muck is term which is commonly used on the poker table. It refers to folding or discarding the hand.

Fourth Street means the fourth card which is dealt to players on the poker table.

Dealer button means that it throws light to the position of the dealer on the table.

Coffeehousing refers to a situation on the poker table when they are all playing their hand by avidly trying to deceive the opponents. This is considered as a foul poker manner. While playing poker implementing the right etiquette gives you the confidence, and helps you to adequately concentrate on the game as well.

Call refers to a situation when the player has made a bet which is the same as the last raise or the bet.

Big pair is two premium cards like pocket aces and tens which may help you win pots.

Players’ especially the budding ones should be aware of the poker terminology so that they can play the game easily without confusion. When the dealer announces words like ante flops, all-in, check and so on they should not be blank. It helps you feel a part of the group if you can speak in poker terminology or else you are considered an alien on the poker table.

Online poker has flourished in the past few years. This is mainly due to the convenience that the internet provides to setup games using software and make payment transactions quickly via the internet. With the heavy increase in online poker players, several sites dedicated to free poker games as well as real ones have sprung up. It can be daunting to separate the legit and high quality sites from the rest because it is quite simple to setup an apparently professional site for a low price by virtually anyone. To make the task easier, here are 3 recommended sites to choose from to play poker online.

Party Poker

Party Poker is one of the pioneers in online poker. Established almost a decade ago, Party Poker is known for its popularity hosting thousands of games at any one time. Due to Party Poker’s widespread popularity as well as reputation, the majority of its users are beginners and intermediates since this is pretty much the first service that any newbie hears of, however it also comprises of several, well established, experienced online poker players. The software used by Party Poker is also quite steady as anticipated. While sounds used in-game maybe a little annoying to some, it is feature-filled and barely contains any glitches.

Full Tilt Poker

Full Tilt Poker is a much newer online poker client in comparison to the aforementioned Party Poker client but it can serve as quite a good competitor. The players in Full Tilt poker are known to be a little stubborn which has been an issue as it is harder to win games however as popularity of the service grows, so does the variety of the players. The software client is excellent available for both Windows and Mac platforms. It does not consume too much of system memory thus game play is smooth.

Carbon Poker

Carbon Poker was previously under the poker.com domain name (which very much worked in their favor for type in traffic) and was later on re-branded to Carbon Poker. Carbon Poker is still in development in terms of popularity with around 2500 players online at the busiest times. The skill levels of players are best suited to new players in to the online poker world. The software is relatively weak as far as graphical appeal is concerned but it is feature filled. A unique user-friendly feature in the software is the tabbed navigation that makes it very easy to switch between the various features and areas of the room.

These are 3 of the most popular and reputed clients to play poker online, currently available. Your choice would depend on your reputation and skill level but on a general note, signing up with Party Poker would rarely end in disappointment irrespective of your skill level.

For example you could make an agreement with the other players that pots won with these hands will cost 4BB from every player at the table. It doesn’t have to be necessarily the 7-2 hand, it’s all up to you. At our game we even agreed multiple bounty hands on one evening, f.e. the 72 en T3 hands. Good luck!

I decided to redeposit some earnings from Fat Bet Poker on my old Pokerstars account, because I wanted to play some 9-handed sit and goes again. It’s been a while but seems that I still have it I played two sit and goes (one of $1.2 + one of $3.4) and I succeeded in winning them both. In the heads-up phase of the last one I got a true MONSTERFLOP for my trademark hand. Pokerstars is getting to know the 97 as well. I checked the board until the river, hoping for my opponent to try a steal which he did. Obviously I reraised and the guy folded.

Few hands later I knocked the last player out with the following hand.

Glad I’m already winning sit and goes this soon, because the shift from cash games to tournaments isn’t an easy one I encountered. It’s an oh so different game But I must not forget to mention that I had some luck on the right moments (I hit some lucky rivers but hey who doesn’t? ) Maybe I’ll be playing some more tournaments on Pokerstars in the future. Thinking about depositing more money on Pokerstars trying to profit from their 300$ reload bonus

Cheers
