Online poker sites

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010 | Uncategorized | 2 Comments

Online poker has flourished in the past few years. This is mainly due to the convenience that the internet provides to setup games using software and make payment transactions quickly via the internet. With the heavy increase in online poker players, several sites dedicated to free poker games as well as real ones have sprung up. It can be daunting to separate the legit and high quality sites from the rest because it is quite simple to setup an apparently professional site for a low price by virtually anyone. To make the task easier, here are 3 recommended sites to choose from to play poker online.

  • Party Poker
  • Party Poker is one of the pioneers in online poker. Established almost a decade ago, Party Poker is known for its popularity hosting thousands of games at any one time. Due to Party Poker’s widespread popularity as well as reputation, the majority of its users are beginners and intermediates since this is pretty much the first service that any newbie hears of, however it also comprises of several, well established, experienced online poker players. The software used by Party Poker is also quite steady as anticipated. While sounds used in-game maybe a little annoying to some, it is feature-filled and barely contains any glitches.

  • Full Tilt Poker
  • Full Tilt Poker is a much newer online poker client in comparison to the aforementioned Party Poker client but it can serve as quite a good competitor. The players in Full Tilt poker are known to be a little stubborn which has been an issue as it is harder to win games however as popularity of the service grows, so does the variety of the players. The software client is excellent available for both Windows and Mac platforms. It does not consume too much of system memory thus game play is smooth.

  • Carbon Poker
  • Carbon Poker was previously under the poker.com domain name (which very much worked in their favor for type in traffic) and was later on re-branded to Carbon Poker. Carbon Poker is still in development in terms of popularity with around 2500 players online at the busiest times. The skill levels of players are best suited to new players in to the online poker world. The software is relatively weak as far as graphical appeal is concerned but it is feature filled. A unique user-friendly feature in the software is the tabbed navigation that makes it very easy to switch between the various features and areas of the room.

These are 3 of the most popular and reputed clients to play poker online, currently available. Your choice would depend on your reputation and skill level but on a general note, signing up with Party Poker would rarely end in disappointment irrespective of your skill level.

I created a new blog with reviews of poker articles

Sunday, August 9th, 2009 | Uncategorized | No Comments

Hi,

I must admit, it’s been a while. Been busy with lots of things, not concerning poker. Sometimes I play for a short time at fat bet poker but as I told their hand histories are crap so the few special hands I saw over there, it’s a burden to make a post about them.

Instead of playing poker, I’ve been busy more often with the development of plenty other websites rather than playing or viewing poker. One of the latest websites I created is Online poker shopping. Its purpose is to give some solid reviews about some poker products. I hope you’ll like. It is nice, I like ;)

KK cracked by nut flush on the river

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008 | AK suited, all-in, nut flush, pokerstars, Uncategorized | No Comments

I’m doing quite fine this evening. I’m even hitting rivers, normally not one of my specialities To illustrate this, see the attached video. I pick up

on the big blind, and see a raise to 1$ and a call. I decided just to call and not to raise, despite of my bad position. Afterwards maybe the good decision: the guy with KK would probably have reraised me all-in preflop. Not sure if I would have folded that, but Q6 would probably have. Well, so I just called.

The flop didn’t hit me, but I picked up a nice nut flush draw (+ I certainly got some additional outs because of my 2 overcards). The guy in first position decided to play it quick: he immediately pushed all-in with his overpair. The next one flat called (what was he actually thinking? Top pair with pretty good kicker will be enough? Wouldn’t think so, pal)

Ok, my turn! Why should I ever fold this? I got lots of outs plus the pot odds are just too good to let this slip. So I called and also just called the remaining bets of the player with Q6. Maybe it was a better move to push that guy all-in straight away, but ok.

The turn came a blank, but the river offered me a big smile So I took down a nice pot.

running out of luck

flopping a set

Thursday, November 6th, 2008 | Uncategorized | No Comments

… is always nice!

Especially against some donk with top pair and a lousy kicker who probably thought he got best. Just look at the screenshot: I obviously folded on the flop when those two players began their betting game. I was quite surprised when one of them showed K6 offsuit. A hand I would never play, certainly not in that position. You see, it costed the guy a lot of dollars.

Actually I was convinced the quality of players at PokerStars was a bit better than that (on microstakes too, yes), but after seeing this hand I think I’ll stick to the Pokerstars Cash games for a while.

Can anybody explain what my opponent in this hand is thinking? I didn’t continue to bet on fifth street, because I feared I was facing a slowplayed overpair to my jacks. The showdown made me a happy man :)

It’s not visible in the excerpt of the hand, but the pokerstars replay showed my opponent had

.

K3 suited? Why? Do I look like a frequent bluffer :D
