the battle of premium pairs

This is one incredible poker hand :D Aces versus Kings versus Queens. I’ve been there, done that. The moment I’m speaking about, I had the Queens and was all-in against two opponents with KK and AA. Off course the aces didn’t win that time either :p I was the one with queens who called an all-in of my two opponents, and flopped a set.

To be honest, I don’t like getting the aces. They lose me a lot of money in the long run ;)

Nice hand in pot limit omaha

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009 | all-in, full house, Omaha, Pot Limit, straight | No Comments

To be clear, this is not one of my own played hands. I am not such a huge fan of pot limit games, and not one of Omaha poker either. But some minutes ago I saw a good friend of me catching a real nice pot in PLO, especially for such low stakes. Don’t think you can’t blame the other two players for being in this huge pot. Two guys have flopped the nut straight, one of them was drawing to a royal flush too. Ok, the other did a quite loose call preflop, I admit. But the weakest hand on the flop got the jackpot,  hehehe. Nice catch, sir !!!

But, off the record! Could someone please explain me why so many people play Pot Limit Poker (Omaha) games. Why is it so much fun, because at the moment I just don’t get it. I think it’s just one huge drawing festival. Or is it commonly played by n00bs who don’t care about their money? :p An explanation is welcome :D Cheers

KK cracked by nut flush on the river

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008 | AK suited, all-in, donkey, nut flush | No Comments

I’m doing quite fine this evening. I’m even hitting rivers, normally not one of my specialities  To illustrate this, see the attached video. I pick up

on the big blind, and see a raise to 1$ and a call. I decided just to call and not to raise, despite of my bad position. Afterwards maybe the good decision: the guy with KK would probably have reraised me all-in preflop. Not sure if I would have folded that, but Q6 would probably have. Well, so I just called.

The flop didn’t hit me, but I picked up a nice nut flush draw (+ I certainly got some additional outs because of my 2 overcards). The guy in first position decided to play it quick: he immediately pushed all-in with his overpair. The next one flat called (what was he actually thinking? Top pair with pretty good kicker will be enough? Wouldn’t think so, pal)

Ok, my turn! Why should I ever fold this? I got lots of outs plus the pot odds are just too good to let this slip. So I called and also just called the remaining bets of the player with Q6. Maybe it was a better move to push that guy all-in straight away, but ok.

The turn came a blank, but the river offered me a big smile :) So I took down a nice pot.

damn, didn’t see that coming

AA vs. KK vs. QQ

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008 | AA, all-in, bad beat, flop a set, KK, pokerstars, QQ | No Comments

The dealer decided it was time for a big joke, one that ended up fantastic for me He decided to deal three players with the following premium hands: AA, KK and QQ (that would be me).

The AA did a small raise to 0.75$, the guy with KK reraised him to 2.75$ and I reraised to 6$ which left me with a remaining stack of 8$. The aces went all-in, obviously called by KK and I didn’t have any other option to call the all-in too. Although I knew I was beat but you know, the pod odds. But I was the lucky one: I did hit a set and picked up a nice main pot.

In just one hand my bad plays of the hour before (I didn’t hit a thing and tried stealing pots without success) got compensated.
